I sprained my ankle during a basketball match…outch.what’s worse is i didn’t rest my foot. I got injured in the start of the first quarter of the match. ;( . the bad thing is we have no substitute players, so i have to play the whole game or we will forfeit the game.my team mates just told to stay in the defensive court always. very embarrassing. hehehehe. so i did. this is the biggest mistake ever. just as the match finished, I iced the sprained ankle and there’s a sign of swelling. when i try to get up i could barely walk. The doc says it is Grade 2 sprain and the very next day the bruise was visible. Two large bruise on both sides. I inched my way to work for 2 days. hehehehe. I got an X-ray and the doc said there’s no fracture and i have to wear this ankle support and ankle braces……..

Sprained

Here is a list on what you should do if you have a sprained ankle:

Remember these key word = R I C E

1.)  R – Rest the injured area (which i didn’t do). After an hour or so introduce minimal movement so as not to loose to much strength on your muscle.

2.) I – Ice it up (this i did,but after the game.hehehe). Be sure not to place ice directly on skin, you could wrap the ice in a damp towel or use a ice patch.

3.) C -Compress the injured area by bandaging. this reduces the swelling.

4.) E – Elevate the ankle. Height should be above the elevation of the heart to minimize fluid flow to the extremities.

DON’T FORGET TO SEEK MEDICAL HELP!
